HW Technology recently migrated a professional service business in the home counties to a full cloud-based hosted desktop solution.
After running local servers to provide email, file and application services for a number of years, the customer was required to upgrade their underlying architecture to enable them to utilise a number of key features within their line of business applications.
The key challenge with this move was to reduce downtime to a minimum as the cost to the business being without access in core working hours was substantial.
The business had 5 key line of business applications in production and to complicate matters they also ran a large document management system.
Due to the software in use HW Technology handled all application and data migrations apart from the document management solution. HWT provided support and assistance to the document management vendor to perform this move over an evening prior to the main platform move.
All other aspects were handled during a weekend to reduce the impact migrating systems had. Engineers were on-site and working remotely to handle all aspects of the work including local PC/Laptop lockdowns and archiving of sensitive information no longer needed on the live platform.
Email services were also migrated to a fully hosted Exchange platform.
On completion, the client now uses HWT to provide end-user support on the local devices and cloud system as well as support on communications and internet connectivity.

Now we have switched we have improved response times and have access to expertise and skills we didn’t have before. We also have a good plan to take the technology forward over the next 12 – 36 months.”
