The Cuban government has stated it will be expanding public internet access soon. An additional number of internet points will come on-line from early June providing access for a small charge.
At present Cuba has one of the lowest Internet access rates in the world so this will hopefully improve the figure. Internet access is tightly managed and most individuals currently only access it from work, schools and in some cases hotels.
The state run Etecsa has stated it will “stop access” immediately to anyone misusing or violating the states rules and regulations overseeing internet access.
Cuba recently begun using fibre-optic cable connection to main land Venezuela rather than slower more expensive satellite links.
