Audi and GM are starting to offer integrated 4G access in new cars in the US it has been reported. Unfortunately the only provider who is being used is AT&T as both manufacturers have signed deals with the telecoms giant.
Audi will be providing the Audi A3 with advance navigation, Twitter and Facebook alerts and access to over 7000 internet radio stations. The car will also have a built in WiFi hotspot so others in the vehicle can connect up and use the AT&T service. Audi will roll out services to the rest of its fleet in due course.
GM will provide 4G services to a number of its models including the Chevrolet Corvette and Impala.
Renault in Europe have also signed a partnership agreement with Orange but as yet no more details are available as to which services will be provisioned to which models.
